Why is Cenote Jardín del Edén so popular among divers ?
There are mainly two reasons why Cenote Jardín del Edén is so appreciated by divers.
The first one is that it is an ideal place to discover diving when you are starting out. Its crystal clear water offers exceptional visibility, which allows beginners to dive with confidence. The maximum depth in the open area is six meters, a very accessible level for those who are just beginning.
The second reason is the cavern section that goes down to fifteen or sixteen meters, where you can admire one of the most beautiful haloclines in the Riviera Maya.

The sunlight passing through the water creates magnificent light effects and gives the cenote a unique and magical atmosphere.
You can also encounter a wide variety of colorful fish and sometimes even blue crayfish, which makes the diving experience even more fascinating.

Easy to reach and surrounded by beautiful natural scenery, it is one of the best cenotes to take your first steps underwater in the Riviera Maya.
What certifications are required to dive at Cenote Jardín del Edén ?
To dive in the open area of Cenote Jardín del Edén, no advanced certification is required, which makes it perfect for introductory dives.

However, the cavern part of the cenote is not accessible to all divers. To dive there, you need at least an advanced certification such as PADI Open Water Diver, CMAS Level 1, or any other recognized equivalent.
What is the best time to dive in Cenote Jardín del Edén ?
The best time to dive at Cenote Jardín del Edén is during the dry season, from November to April. The weather is more pleasant, rainfall is less frequent, and the visibility underwater is excellent. Since it is an open cenote, it can however be influenced by the effect of tannins, especially during the rainy season.

In summer, the heat, humidity, and frequent rain accelerate the decomposition of the leaves that fall into the water. This creates a thin acidic layer rich in tannins, which can be observed mainly in certain sites such as Carwash or Casa Cenote.

Cenote Jardín del Edén is located in the heart of the Riviera Maya in Mexico, more precisely on the Chetumal Puerto Juárez federal road about twenty five kilometers south of Playa del Carmen.
